Question by northamtranscontinental: Is there a difference between marriage counseling and couples counseling? My boyfriend and I are looking into going to counseling but I’m having a hard time finding a place in our area. I know we aren’t married and won’t be for awhile, but seriously, is there REALLY a difference between marital and couples counseling? And would we be allowed to participate? Or would it be better to sign up for individual counseling and just ask if he can join us? (I can’t find anything labeled actual couples counseling in my search, just individual or marital.)

Do couples come out with better understanding relationships or do some realize they want a divorce ?
Is this the last step before they realize they want to patch things up or divorce ?
