How far is it acceptable to tease a girl when flirting?

Asking this after watching a friend. Was flirting with a girl, and teased her about her height indirectly several times. She responded your “you mean or that’s terrible”. His response was to crack a joke about her kicking his ass since he couldn’t see him. Did he take it too far?
Is flirting with other people acceptable whilst in a relationship?

What you you think? Should you be entirely devoted to another person and not set eyes on someone else. Or does flirting with someone harmlessly (however you want to define that) good for the relationship?
