Which of these places should we go on our honeymoon?
We’re meeting with a travel agent next week to start planning our July 2010 honeymoon. We want somewhere in the Caribbean so we were thinking either Jamaica, Antigua, Cayman Islands or the Bahamas. Has anyone had any experience with any of these places or is there anywhere else in the Caribbean you would suggest? Thanks!

Were going to St. Croix, you might want to look into it. We went on a cruise to the Bahamas last year, it was great. You and your future husband should go to a travel agent and see what they recommend for July, sometimes they can get you a great honeymoon package!

I have been to the Bahamas many times. If you can afford it, stay at Atlantis on paradise Island. It is spectacular and will be a memorable place for your honeymoon.
I have heard Jamaica is beautiful but it’s not nice outside of the resorts.

Dominican Republic is nice, so is Mexico. Barbados is another one. It depends on what your looking for. The Islands you have listed apart from jamaica are very laid back, not much to do, which I hate even for a honeymoon.

I went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It LIKED it, not loved it. If I could do it again, I would do a cruise!
I was just surprised at how poor the island is and felt like we were confined to the resort (which was nice, all inclusive and free drinks!) The food wasn’t the best. They tried to “Americanize” it which made it taste more like Cafeteria food.
We stayed at the Riu Ocho Rios. They have 7 restaurants on site but you have to make reservations which isn’t easy when you sleep in. We ate at the steak house which was really good! It was the buffets that weren’t the best, especially the pizzeria!
We went on a “party cruise” which took us snorkeling and to climb the Dunns River Falls (a must do if you go to Ocho Rios).
I also have to say, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! I was sick on the honeymoon which also didn’t help! Also, buy your underwater camera in the US and it will save you like 50%. They overcharge there.
I’m sure wherever you pick, you will have a great time! The water is so awesome and so are the beaches! In Jamaica, they said Nigel has the nicest beaches and Ocho Rios the next nicest. Montago bay is the closest to the airport. Ocho Rios is over an hour away.
If you do go to Ocho Rios, there is this awesome restaurant called Evita’s…It is amazing! And the view is to die for. BRING YOUR CAMERA. I forgot mine
*I almost forgot to mention, we picked Jamaica because it is one of the only islands that English is the main language MON! Everyone speaks it there.

Antigua – the Curtain Bluff Resort. It’s been an award-winning resort for several years running.

Many honeymooner come to St. John to enjoy the peacefulness of it all.
St. John is 2/3 rds. US National Park. The speed limit in town is 10 mph. There are not traffic lights. English is spoken here and it is a US Territory, where the dollar is used.
Have fun where ever you decide to go.
