The Divorce is Over But Your Life Is Not
Just because you’re divorced, doesn’t mean your life is over. Divorce can shred your emotions & turn your life upside down. It affects the way you look at yourself. If your not careful you can begin to believe your life is over. Some times your imagination can get the best of you & cause you to wonder if there is any purpose any more.
Here are 3 things that will ignite your desire to rise out of the ashes.
First, take care of the past. Pretending it never happened will cause you to live in the past. Pretending you’re ok is torment, especially when you’re alone. Now is the time to start the healing process. Honesty will get rid of the shackles & lighten the load. So, here is an idea
to get you started. Take ownership of what’s your fault. No you’re not surrendering. You are taking ownership. Then let your issues be yours, & do not take on other peoples issues. Once you take ownership, start working on those things you want to eliminate from your life. Remember, ignoring or blaming will shackle you to your past. This will heal your past & allow you to live well again.
Second, live in the present. You do not have to live in the past, & you do not have to exist in the present. You can do more then exist, you can live. You can enjoy life again. It is easy closing the blinds & shutting the world out. In reality you’re shutting yourself away from the world. That is existing, not living. Do you follow? Time to step out of the house, shoulders back, head up, smile on, & interact with people. Take that walk, join a small group, go straight to a sporting event. Get around people & laugh, interact, enjoy life again. It does not happen in one day. The key is to get started. Good activities will help heal those torn emotions.
Third, have high expectations of the future… When you think of your future paint a good picture. The worse thing to do is imagine the worse. History repeats itself, is a lousy saying & it is not true. The truth is you can exercise your power to expect the best. Meditate, ponder, imagine, visualize , pray about a good future… There is something powerful that happens when we exercise a little faith. Take time every day to reflect on your future… Some people let their imagination flow, without limits. Imagine your future as if you were living it now, engage all 5 of your senses, smell, taste, hear, see, touch. It is simple but powerful. Do this each day & amazing things will begin to happen.
These are simple ways to keep in mind that the divorce is over but you aren’t.
